The BIXI community keeps expanding by leaps and bounds. First, it was North America, with Montreal, Boston and now Minneapolis. Shortly thereafter, Europe followed suit with stations all over London. And now, BIXI goes to the Land Down Under as Melbourne is the next city to adopt the concept.

In Minneapolis, the largest city in the state of Minnesota, the first phase of the project will include 75 stations and some 1,000 bicycles. Everything will be set up and ready to go this June. Needless to say, not only will BIXI provide the system, but also everything pertaining to customer service, technical support and parts supply. Melbourne, Australia’s second largest city, will launch Phase One with 52 stations and 610 bicycles. In addition to the system, BIXI will also provide technical support, training in addition to supplying the parts. Much like in Minneapolis, residents of Melbourne will be able to say « G’day! » while riding a BIXI in June.

Thanks to its users, who have made the experiment in Montreal such a booming success, it was only a matter of time before BIXI expanded all over the world. Montrealers have quickly made BIXI a part of their lives and, as a direct result, have also greatly changed the transportation landscape in their city while contributing to the environment and the well-being of our planet.

Thanks to all of you, BIXI has now become one of Montreal’s strongest international contributions.
