Members and personnel of the Corporation de Gestion des Marchés Publics de Montréal (CGMPM) are proud to associate themselves with the City of Montreal and the launching of its new BIXI Public Bike System. Three days will be reserved at the three public markets Jean Talon (Saturday, September 27, 10 :30 am to 2 :30 pm) Atwater (Sunday, September 28, 11 am to 3 pm) and Maisonneuve (Saturday, October 4, 11 am to 3 pm) for the BIXI SWAT team to present this convivial, economical and ecological service. It will be up and running in Spring 2009 with 3,000 bikes and 300 pay stations strategically located in six central boroughs of the island of Montreal. 2008-09-21The BIXI Public Bike System gets rolling!Mr. Gérald Tremblay, the mayor of Montreal, today unveiled the city's public bike system and its new name: BIXI. "I'm very pleased to present the bike system which will be available to Montrealers in the spring of 2009 along with its new name. The name we agreed upon for North America's first public bike system is simple, but it took some thinking. It's made up of the first two letters in the word "bicycle" and the last two in the word "taxi", thus BIXI," announced Mr. Tremblay. |
