Today is the official launch of a 32 BIXI bike system available at four stations on Washington State University campus, located in Pullman, Washington. The system will be accessible to the 18,000 students of this university, and they will even have the possibility of using their student card as a BIXI key. This is BIXI’s first implementation on a university site and its second on a private campus.

The tour will bring the BIXI team to various US cities to demonstrate the popular public bike system with the aim of enabling potential new markets to discover or find out more about the BIXI system.

    - Long Beach, California (August 3)
    - San Diego, California (August 4)

On July 30th, 2010, Boris Johnson, the mayor of London, launched the latest addition to the BIXI franchise. London is adding its name to an impressive list of world metropolises including Montreal, Melbourne, Boston, Washington and Minneapolis that have adopted the BIXI public bike system as an active and environmentally-friendly alternative to traditional modes of urban transport.

Montreal was the place to be last week, as we celebrated Fete Nationale, on June 24th. The next day, June 25th, around noon time, Montrealers had a very good reason to continue the celebration as BIXI's one millionth travel took place!

BIXI’s popularity is absolutely undeniable. Just two short months after opening its 2010 season, BIXI is already up to its one millionth travel!

The City of Montreal won the Environmental Award during the third annual Awards of Excellence in Transportation Gala hosted by the Association québécoise du transport et des routes (AQTR), last night, May 27, in Quebec City. The Environmental Award was given in recognition of two major Montreal initiatives:Montreal, in rhythm with sustainable mobility with its deployment of BIXI and the Installation of 50 km of new cycling paths in 2009.
